Job Description:

  • The Infrastructure Tools Engineer will join a global team of engineers dedicated to enabling Visa's global services through the efficient and effective management of IT infrastructure through tools and automation.
  • Visa's Systems Engineering & Infrastructure team is primarily responsible for the design, build and creation of all infrastructure management solutions used to optimally and securely deliver Visa's IT services across the world.
  • Many of these solutions are based on commercial off the shelf (COTS) solutions and open source or open technologies. They are integrated, extended and customized to meet Visa specific standards and requirements.
  • This engineer will focus on design, engineering & development, implementation of these infrastructure management solutions in as part a global tools team.
  • You will be responsible to shape the strategic direction to collect, process and correlate data from the IT infrastructure and transform that data into actionable information and business intelligence·
  • Conduct infrastructure management technology evaluations, POC and ultimate selection·
  • Manage vendor relationships, understand vendor road maps and industry trends and influent vendor road maps·
  • Design overall tools architecture, standards and integration, ensure design and architecture are consistent with CTO, Security and Operations guidelines·
  • Evaluate tools releases, upgrades, fixes and patches·
  • Advocate and track tools usage, provide internal training to tools users·
  • Maintain a common documentation library of standardized procedures and configurations·
  • Develop appropriate level of monitoring and performance management baseline to ensure availability and performance of tools infrastructure that meets business needs·
  • Collaborate with Application Development, Engineering and Operations groups to identify inefficiencies and automation opportunities·
  • Cultivate, support, and promote an organizational culture that provides for high performance, high morale, integrity, and teamwork.·
  • Integrate and test custom as well as COTS (commercial-off-the-shelf) infrastructure management tools·
  • Work with business representatives, IT Management, IT development, support teams and vendors to ensure on time, on budget, and quality delivery of technical solutions that support the strategic direction of the business and IT.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:·

  • Bachelor's degree or higher·
  • Expertise in one or more of these infrastructure management disciplines - monitoring, configuration management and orchestration.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience (architecture design, integration, customization & implementation) of commercial off the shelf or open-source infrastructure management tools, such as BladeLogic, Microsoft Systems Center, HP OO, Chef, Zabbix, Ansible Tower, CFEngine, Nagios.
  • Familiar with data center constructs and in-depth understanding of its infrastructure management challenges and operational considerations·
  • System administrator level knowledge of operating systems, such as Linux, AIX, Solaris and Windows·
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages, such as shell, Perl, VB, Powershell or Python, be able to work independently on creating integration of Tools through APIs and Web Services calls ·
  • Understanding of virtualization and its specific operational challenges, familiar with virtualization infrastructure stack and respective management technologies ·
  • Strong analytic mind and troubleshooting skills to provide Level 3 solution support·
  • Knowledge of databases (MySQL & Oracle)and web applications (Apache, Tomcat) and middleware components, J2EE, JVM & .NET is a plus ·
  • Deep knowledge and real-world experience of ITSM processes, such as incident & problem management, change management, capacity management and release management·
  • Effective communicator to work in global team environment, ready to initiate collaboration and resolve conflicts·
  • Able to prioritize workload in order to meet necessary deadlines·
  • Can-do attitude, ready for challenge, with the drive and flexibility to get assigned tasks done·
  • Can make independent judgments/decisions within established guidelines·
  • Ability, desire and motivation to learn quickly and pick up new skills
