Summary
The Quality Assurance Manager is the role model for creating a sustainable quality culture where quality is part of everyone’s role. This position ensures the production and distribution of products meet or exceed all quality standards by safeguarding product quality, integrity and safety while meeting regulatory standards. Management of HACCP, SQF and other certifications to ensure regulatory compliance is critical to this role as is responding to audits performed by the Government, regulatory agencies, customers and private entities. The QA Manager works collaboratively with ownership, management and production employees to ensure relevant processes are conducted according to Packaging Personified Inc. and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Ensure product safety, regulatory compliance, and compliance with company certifications such as HACCP, SQF, GMP, AIB or Six Sigma; implement and maintain all quality systems
Provide overall people leadership to the quality assurance team; provide quality goals and frequent communication with staff to resolve problems and issues
Formulate and maintain quality and safety objectives; coordinate objectives with production procedures in cooperation with plant manager to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
Ensure key traceability, inspection program management, vendor management, metrics are established, and the delivery of the established metrics and Key Performance Indices
Monitor the quality plans (incoming inspection, finished product inspection, calibration, audits, etc.;) review the critical control points of the processes and advise plant management of potentials for product failure
Conduct standardized testing on product, and materials to ensure compliance with all internal standards, customer specifications, and state and federal regulations
Manage customer complaint program by responding to customer complaints in a timely manner and participate in formulation of resolutions; ensure the execution of corrective action
Direct team engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over work-in-process (WIP), finished product and equipment
Comply and keep administrative requirements current: inspections, corrective action responses, consumer/customer complaints, service failures, safety, food safety, cost and other management reports
Communicate quality metric and inspection results to appropriate managers and others in leadership positions including, but not limited to daily, weekly or monthly KPI reporting; generate reports using statistical data to monitor plant adherence to quality standards
Work collaboratively coaching, educating and training of management staff, plant employees and suppliers for quality assurance; act as key player the overall plant goals (yield, waste, safety, cost savings, service to sales, etc.) to be met
Requirements

  • 8-12 years as Quality Assurance Manager in a manufacturing company
  • 10+ years in manufacturing to include quality assurance experience
  • Experience in Flexo printing, plastic packaging, blown film or food production highly preferred
  • Solid understanding and use of root cause analysis
  • Hands on experience with implementing new regulations, controls, safety, training, audits, etc.
  • Expert knowledge in at least two of the following: SQF, AIB, HAACP, Six Sigma, GMP, GFSI, OSHA, ISO, or SPC
  • Excellent presentation skills for, but not limited t

Creating statistical trending reports, KPI presentations with supporting documentation and solutions when necessary
Management reporting of KPIs, audits, tests, trend analysis, corrective plans
Regulatory agency reporting
