Job Description
- Communicate verbally and in writing underwriting requirements, rates, and application of underwriting policy and final decision.
- Utilize knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new or renewal policies.
- Prepare quotations for sales people and agents and answer questions from agents, policyholders, or prospects; explain company underwriting policies.
- Assist sales people and agents with comments or questions about applications and the likelihood of acceptance by the company.
- Review requests for cancellation, endorsements, etc. Review policies for renewal consideration; Request additional documentation necessary for the processing of an application, endorsement or cancellation.
- Ensure the timely completion of renewals, proposals, and specialized reports associated with the underwriting function.
- Prepare and analyze production report.
- Manage multiple tasks and prioritize work, while assisting team in meeting deadline.
- Assist in the training and development of underwriting trainees and underwriting staff.
- Maintain confidentiality of all corporate, personnel and research matters.
- Perform effectively any other duties as assigned; assume new duties as the need arise.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Insurance or related fields with an emphasis in business studies; a professional insurance certificate/license is a plus.
- 8-10 years of experience in non-life underwriting practices and procedures; exposure to some financial and statistical activities Previous experience in supervisory related position.
- Demonstrate creative ways to meet challenges, goals and objectives.
- Enjoy leadership and creative skills and takes initiatives in a proactive manner; Committed to excellence and innovation.
- Possess an analytical background, excellent math skills and decision making abilities.
- Self-motivated, resourceful and controlled assertive behavior.
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted underwriting practices.
- Excellent organizational skills required and time management.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands and have the ability to meet designated deadlines.
- Must have high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situation.
- Excellent verbal and communication skills; Able to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly in both written and oral communication.
