Job Description
- Coordinate the complete digitization of any non-digital material using in-house equipment or external vendors as necessary.
- Digitize documents, photographs and drawings.
- Use Adobe Creative Cloud for image and document processing.
- Assess the quality of the finalized digitized data.
- Prepare all files for ingestion and publication using established file name conventions, metadata standards, file formatting, etc. through file editing and/or metadata entry.
- Conduct large-scale data preparation and data entry.
- Update and edit ARCE project processing manual to reflect all necessary changes.
- Maintain naming conventions and structure protocols.
- Assist the project manager and metadata specialist to prepare annual and final reports on project accomplishments.
- Document metadata, website, and overall project processes, progress, and setbacks, as well as lessons learned and areas for improvement.
- Work with the ADPP team, website developers and UCLA counterpart to evaluate and improve the ARCE Archives website.
- Any other tasks as necessary for successful digital publication.
Job Requirements
- At least two years of experience in the production and management of digitization and publication projects.
- Fluency in English with excellent writing skills (a sample is required).
- Bachelor degree in Archival Studies, Cultural Heritage Management, Information Science, or Digital Humanities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Adobe Creative Cloud
- Highly motivated, organized, and detail-oriented individual with the ability to work independently.
- Experience in the utilization of various forms of specialized scanning equipment and image processing software.
- Excellent research and problem-solving skills. Ability to concentrate and read numerous reports and edit.
- Experience with cultural heritage institutions and/or a strong interest in cultural heritage management.
