Internship Description
Distinguished Civil Engineering Senior Undergrads majoring in Project Management have an opportunity to participate in a field internship with DME Consulting.
Responsibilities
The intern will participate in
- Overseeing a multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, surveyors, environmental consultants, and contractors, in the design, construction, and turnover of site improvements.
- Interfacing with City Agencies to expedite review and permitting of construction documents, specs and site management plans. Obtain required construction permits and/or plan approvals from relevant jurisdictions.
- Managing construction activities, including monitoring of budgets and schedules, coordination of weekly OAC meetings, RFIs and submittals
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, EIR mitigation measures, development agreement obligations, and environmental regulations. Coordinate field monitoring and perform data review and quality control of environmental monitoring transmittals.
- Reviewing and verifying consultant invoices, contractor pay applications, and change order requests.
- Working with Lead Construction Administrator and Estimator to provide updates to cost/budget controls, project schedules, cash flow projections, and monthly financial reports.
- Assisting with Requests for Proposal for design and construction services; assist with negotiation and award contracts for consultant services and construction contractors.
- Overseeing all aspects of utility service applications, including domestic water, reclaimed water, fire water, temporary and permanent power, gas, telephone/cable, etc.
Internship Requirements
Qualifications:
- Registered as a civil engineering undergrad at an accredited Egyptian University
- Expected to graduate in 2018
- Can fluently speak, understand and write in English
- Strong background in Project management incl. budgeting
- Strong background in Construction management incl. scheduling
- Experienced in using MS Office/Excel/Power Point/Project
- Good Problem solving
- Ability to work independently, prioritize and work towards objectives without close supervision.
