Job Description:
- American Shelves contain American books, American Studies reference materials and computers connected to the Internet. American Shelves are tangible tools for building a Network of communication and mutual understanding.
- The goal of the American Shelves is to educate interested audiences about the United States by promoting the understanding of American history, culture and values. American Shelves are a partnership between US Embassies and host institutions to forge lasting relationship.Main activities
- Maintain basic library functions: checking books/DVDs in and out, new materials, new memberships
- Maintain a balanced environment of a study, reading, and socializing space
- Help peers with research, including helping them find quality resources
- Facilitate cultural understanding
- Proof –read documents
- Plan and host weekly activities: Free English conversation hours, guest speakers, workshops, Clubs..
- Set and implement AS guidelines in order to maintain structure of educational and cultural space
- Promote American Shelf events and programs
- Attend monthly meetings at the U.S. Embassy and provide monthly activity report for the U.S. Embassy
- Assist and cooperate with the Advising Department on outreach activities
