Job Description

  • Management of Projects:
  • Project Setup and Planning:
  1. Collaborate and work with management to assess current and future projects.
  2. Actively engages in the RFP process including project scope, work plan, schedule and fees in accordance to established profitability targets for proposals and in potential client presentations.
  3. Assists and/or participates in client presentations as needed.
  • Project Execution and Controls:
  1. Lead, coordinate and monitor all project work effort, including external subconsultants, in compliance with contractual agreements(s).
  2. Oversee the schematics and layout of the project plan(s).
  3. Establish work plan and multi-disciplinary staffing for each project phase and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  4. Control project budget and provide direction and leadership to assigned resources required for effective and timely execution of the projects.
  5. Ensure the timely preparation of invoices, minimization of net WIP balances and timely collections of accounts receivable.
  6. Guide, direct and supervise the project teams, including evaluation, coaching and development of team members.
  7. Ensure that all team members and others work together cohesively.
  8. Observe and measure regular variances from the project management plan and ensure all levels of project and construction managers are held accountable for accomplishing clear and attainable project objectives, managing projects, cost, time and scope. Assist project and construction managers in their achievement of such goals.
  • Project Quality Assurance and Quality Control:
  1. Assess effectiveness of current processes to each project and manpower required to complete the project.
  2. Review deliverables following company processes/procedures to ensure that they conform to the clients quality expectations.
  3. Evaluate and review status reports, recognizing, addressing and appropriately communicating any discrepancies.
  4. Monitor and assess all field work to ensure standards are met, including sub-contract work.
  5. Guarantee that required documents and reports adhere to applicable project policies, procedures, standards, codes, regulations, and practices per deadline to ensure compliance.
  • Project Closeout:
  1. Confirm adherence to subconsultant agreement.
  2. Verify that the client has received all relevant deliverables.
  3. Ensure that project documents and electronic files are properly archived.
  4. Provide appropriate marketing materials.
  5. Determine final project profitability analysis explaining variances from the project management plan for financial closeout.
  • Special Projects & Other Duties:
  1. Promote a positive company culture, quality ethics and values resulting in a respected reputation in the market and with all employees, customers, suppliers, partners and regulatory agencies.
  2. Seek opportunities to expand and promote awareness of the company’s capabilities and strengths in a myriad of public relations/business development venues.
  3. Foster strong multi-level client relations to ensure client satisfaction.
  4. Work with past and current clients to seek out new projects that may exist or are being formulated to secure new business for company.
  5. Seek out and listen for opportunities for new client projects.
  6. Provide timely communication of critical matters to clients and within RW Armstrong.

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • The Project Manager must be able to meet these minimum qualifications to successfully fulfill the essential responsibilities and accountabilities of the position.

Education/Certification:

  • A minimum of four (4) year bachelor degree from an accredited university with emphasis in engineering, planning or a related field OR continuous progressive project experience exceeding expectations.

Knowledge/Experience:

  • (20) or more years of working knowledge and experience in the discipline area, including planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, and leadership techniques with proven success in the coordination of people, project and resources.
  • Demonstrate competency in spreadsheet, word processing and cost accounting software.

  • Identify and assess financial and numerical data to determine underlying reasons, facts and principles of information.

 Reasoning:

  • Applies knowledge to general rules to specific problems to exercise critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Analyze information and evaluate results to determine best solution and/or direction.
  • Exercise critical thinking skills to form general rules of conclusions.
