Job Description
Job Purpose:
Responsible for dispensing prescriptions, purchasing of all medications, medications proper and secure storage, and providing help and advice to patients and medical staff in all aspects of medicines.
Main Duties:
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities.
- Complies with both hospital and pharmacy policies and procedures.
- Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies.
- Provides consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications for storage, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions
- Identifies patient’s drug-related problems and effectively communicate with physicians and other healthcare practitioners
- Communicates with prescribes. Any time a prescription order is unclear or potentially harmful for a patient, It needs to be confirmed that the dosage and formulation (e.g., liquid or tablet), as well as whether brand name product is required or if it can be substituted by a generic equivalent.
- Checking dosage and ensuring that medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labeled.
Job Requirements
Qualifications/Experience:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as hospital pharmacist.
Knowledge/ Skills:
- Excellent English, verbal/written communication.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills.
