Job Description

A Telecommunications Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and completion of telecommunication system projects. This typically involves coordinating the installation, upgrade, or maintenance of various telecom networks, ensuring they meet specific requirements and are delivered on time and within budget.

Here's a breakdown of the typical duties and responsibilities:

Project Planning and Management:

  • Define project scope, timelines, and budgets.
  • Develop project plans using project management methodologies (e.g., PMP).
  • Identify and manage project risks.
  • Allocate resources and assign tasks to team members.
  • Track project progress and make adjustments as needed.

Technical Expertise:

  • Possess a strong understanding of telecommunication technologies (wired and wireless networks, Fiber, VoIP, etc.).
  • Work with technical specifications and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other technical specialists.
  • Communication and Stakeholder Management:
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders (clients, vendors, contractors).
  • Manage client expectations and keep them informed of project progress.
  • Resolve issues and negotiate contracts with vendors.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation (plans, schedules, budgets, reports).
  • Prepare status reports for project stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper documentation of completed work.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, business administration, or a related field (often with an additional PMP certification).
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in project management and/or telecommunications.
  • Strong understanding of project management methodologies and best practices.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient in project management software and relevant technical tools.

 

Additional Skills (depending on the specific role):

  • Experience with specific telecom technologies (e.g., fiber optics, UTP,  networks)
  • Experience managing large-scale projects
  • Budgetary and financial management skills
  • Leadership skills
